Pre-Sakai City Well-Being Project: Group Presentation

As part of the Sakai City Well-Being Project, our Grade 1 students worked in groups to explore local topics and think deeply about how to discuss the following themes:

• How can Kansai International Airport operate 24 hours a day?
• What if we had a Starbucks on school grounds?
• How can we make better use of the Ancient Burial Mound (Kofun)?

Each group investigated merits and demerits, and considered the counterarguments to reach a conclusion. By researching using reliable sources, and by looking at both the good and bad sides, students were able to consider different opinions and worked together to reach a supported conclusion.

Through this project, students learned how to use data and information to support their ideas, and how to think critically about certain issues. It was a great opportunity to connect learning with the local area!

夏休み明けからPre堺Well-Beingプロジェクトを行っており、この日は調べ学習の成果を発表する日でした。事前に生徒にはインターネットでの情報収集のやり方・注意点を伝え、教員から提示した本校～堺～南大阪のテーマからひとつを選び、グループで考えを深めてもらいました。（Pre堺Well-Beingプロジェクトは「堺」と言いながら、南大阪まで視点を広げながら進めました。）

来週からは本番の堺Well-Beingプロジェクトに向けて、それぞれのコースの色を出しながら、「堺」を知り、よりよくするための提案や物・サービスなどを生徒に考えてもらう予定です。
